In April 2015, Uber Eats made its debut in Chicago, LA, and New York City, letting people enjoy on-demand deliciousness. This month, we’re celebrating our anniversary by hearing what drew Heath, Katie, Felipe, and Courtney to the team and what’s on the menu for the next six years.

What drew you to Uber Eats?
“I joined Uber Eats at the start of 2018 when online food delivery was established enough to know it was here to stay, but still new enough to be considered a disrupter. I was very curious about the power that the platform had to change consumer behaviour, and drawn to the idea of being part of something that would challenge restaurants to think completely differently about the future of their business and industry.”
What continues to drive and excite you about Uber Eats?
“The people I get to work with. I feel fortunate that I get to learn from and collaborate with very passionate and bright people. The other thing that drives me is the ongoing opportunity to work on complex and interesting problems. Needing to solve something for the first time still comes up in my day to day. I value being in an environment where I am continuously learning and being challenged.”
Felipe Araujo
Strategy & Planning Lead | Brazil
What drew you to Uber Eats?
“After a couple of years in Ridesharing, I was drawn to Uber Eats because of the challenge and complexity of its three-sided marketplace. The addition of the new and, at the time, unknown restaurant world definitely represented a huge opportunity for learnings and professional growth. We were just getting started in Brazil and there was a lot to do, a ton to build, and I was surrounded by amazing people!”
What continues to drive and excite you about Uber Eats?
“After 3+ years at Uber Eats, I’m still impressed with how much I keep learning day-to-day. And this is not just because of our great product advancements and business complexity; it is mostly because of the incredible talents I get to share my time with!”
Courtney Tims
General Manager, Spain | France
What drew you to Uber Eats?
“I switched from rides to Uber Eats in 2018 in Mexico City to join the hacky, rides sidekick upstart for a new adventure. It’s been incredible to watch Uber Eats turn into the overarching company growth propeller, especially over the past year.”
What continues to drive and excite you about Uber Eats?
“The constant hustle to navigate uncharted waters, challenge the status quo and have a truly global impact. No two days are ever the same and it’s so rewarding to solve many of the unanswered questions alongside a fun, driven and bar-raising team!”
Heath Barnett
New Verticals Lead | United States
What drew you to Uber Eats?
“There are three things I always look for when joining a new company; culture, vision, and structure. Culture can either optimize or handicap a company’s long-term growth and in order to optimize an organization, we have to ensure that a company’s culture aligns with its core values. The vision of Uber Eats continues to show me potential because where we are today is just the starting point of where we want to be tomorrow. Lastly, the structure of Uber Eats is one that is agile to increase employee and team potential, which enables us to move fluidly with our market, our users, and our growth.”
What continues to drive and excite you about Uber Eats?
“No two days are ever the same. Uber Eats is a fast-paced, ever-evolving, dynamic environment to work in. I have had the opportunity to work on initiatives, projects, and manage teams that continue to challenge me. Adaptability and agility are essential at Uber Eats, which will make you feel uncomfortable at times, but that is where growth, change, and innovation happens. That is what continues to excite me every day.”
