Marathon Monday is one of Boston’s most exciting days of the year, attracting more than 30,000 runners and upwards of 500,000 supporters. Whether you want to watch it live or celebrate nearby, we’ve got the scoop on how to celebrate Marathon Monday—from where to cheer on the runners, grab a drink, and some fun facts to dazzle your friends with.

Where to cheer the runners on:

Framingham

The 10k marker. This is where runners really start to hit their stride.

  • Location: Concord St. at Waverly St., Framingham
  • Course: Mile 6

Wellesley

The halfway point! Whether you want to be in the famous scream tunnel or are looking for an easy place to get in, out, and onto the next destination, you can’t go wrong here.

  • Location: Washington Street near Wellesley College, Wellesley
  • Course: Mile 13

Heartbreak Hill (or any of the Newton Hills)

The only thing harder than running a marathon is running a marathon uphill. This is a great spot to cheer on runners who could use an extra push.

  • Location: Beacon St and 16 to Commonwealth at Centre St., Newton
  • Course: Miles 17-21

Chestnut Hill Reservoir/Cleveland Circle

Make the most of your day by watching some of the race and then getting some exercise in the great outdoors yourself! Take a walk around the reservoir to stretch your legs between all the cheering.

  • Location: Commonwealth at Chestnut Hill Ave., Boston
  • Course: Miles 21-23

Coolidge Corner

From the outdoor patios and bars to the masses of people cheering—the start of the marathon’s final leg is an exciting place to be.

  • Location: Coolidge Corner, Boston
  • Course: Mile 24

Kenmore Square

Adrenaline is up, and the crowds are out in full force. This area get crazy as baseball fans pour out from the Red Sox game at Fenway Park.

  • Location: Commonwealth and Brookline Ave, Boston
  • Course: Mile 25

The finish line

Arguably the best place to watch. This area can be crowded and take awhile to get into, but it’s all worth it to see the joy on runners’ faces as they near the end of the marathon.

  • Location: Boylston St to Exeter St., Boston
  • Course: Mile 26

Where to celebrate:
