Aloha and welcome to Kauai! Known as the “Garden Isle,” Kauai is home to some of Hawaii’s most majestic beaches, lush tropical valleys, and unimaginable shorelines — it’s no wonder why Hollywood continually uses this island as a backdrop for several blockbuster films. From adrenalin filled activities like ziplining to a day at a world class spa, Kauai truly does have something to do for all. Check out our local favorites and #WhereTo go on Kauai:

If you want some island fuel…

  • Kalaheo Cafe and Coffee Company: A casual cafe with enough options to please everyone and jumbo portions so there’s plenty to share.
  • Bar Acuda: A chic tapas bar where you’ll find Spanish small plates with island flair and specialty cocktails like the Smoke & Ginger or Tequila Koi.
  • Ha Coffee Bar: Set up like an old-school bar with plenty of space to relax or work, Ha Coffee specializes in Kauai grown coffee and locally made snacks.
  • Mermaid Cafe: The perfect walk-up spot after the beach, Mermaid Cafe is an outdoor eatery serving up a variety of vegan-friendly options.

If you need a cold one…

  • Stevenson’s Library: Located at the Grand Hyatt, this lounge has a great wood bar and lots of options from beer, wine and spirits.
  • Nawiliwili Tavern: A late-night neighborhood favorite where dancing, pool, video games, and karaoke can all be found.
  • Tahiti Nui Restaurant: Enjoy live Hawaiian music and dance performances while sipping on mai tais from the tiki bar at Tahiti Nui.
  • Duke’s Kauai: This popular restaurant and bar is a favorite for locals and visitors alike featuring tropical drinks, cold beers, live entertainment, and incredible views.

If you’re feeling outdoorsy…

  • Poipu Beach Park: Located on the southern part of Kauai, this is the go-to beach for all with beautiful blue water and amazing views.
  • Kalalau Trail: Looking for a challenge? The Kalalau Trail on the Na Pali Coast runs approximately 11 miles along the island’s north shore from Keʻe Beach to the Kalalau Valley.
  • Na Pali Coast: The Na Pali Coast is a 15 mile stretch of rugged coastline best accessed via boat tours – a must do in Kauai.
  • Waimea Canyon State Park: Also known as the “Grand Canyon of the Pacific”, Waimea Canyon is approximately 10 miles long with bursts of red, green, and brown hues.
