Aloha and welcome to Maui — the “Valley Isle.” This tropical island paradise is one of the world’s top destinations, and for many great reasons. From world-class beaches, dining, golfing, and even whale watching during the winter months, check out #WhereTo go on Maui:

If you want some island fuel…

  • Ululani Shave Ice: Ululani has the best shave ice on Maui. Complete with handmade vanilla or macadamia nut ice cream and locally made fruit toppings on top of the softest ice on the island. With three convenient locations, you’re always close to this refreshing treat.
  • Da Kitchen: Huge portions and great prices, this is the place to be if you want to try local Hawaiian cuisine. Try the Hawaiian Plate which includes Pork Lau Lau, Kalua Pork, Chicken Long Rice, and Lomi Lomi Salmon.
  • Mama’s Fish House: Located on the North Shore is one of Maui’s most popular restaurants, Mama’s Fish House features some of the freshest seafood around. This high-end dining experience is worth every penny as the menu is made up twice a day to reflect their seafood inventory.
  • The Gazebo: Located on the West Side of Maui on Napili Bay is this popular open-air venue. Serving up dishes daily like white chocolate macadamia nut pancakes and fried rice for breakfast, this spot can get very busy which is why we recommend calling in your order to go.
  • Aloha Mixed Plate: This casual dining venue is located in Lahaina and is right next to the ocean offering some amazing views. Enjoy local foods like Kalua Pork, Chicken Katsu, and BBQ Chicken for a fraction of the price of other oceanfront venues.

If you need a cold one…

  • Maui Brewing Company: Located in Kihei and also north of Lahaina in Kahana is the world-famous Maui Brewing Company. Enjoy locally brewed favorites and even take some home with their convenient glass growlers.
  • Monkeypod Kitchen: Inside the Wailea Gateway Center you can find Maui’s most delicious Mai Tais topped with a homemade lilikoi (passion fruit) foam. Featuring farm-to-table cuisines and several beers on tap, this is a great place for happy hour or dinner.
  • Mala Ocean Tavern: This intimate oceanfront restaurant features amazing views, delicious Pacific Rim and Mediterranean dishes and is located in Lahaina off of Front Street.
  • Seahouse: Literally steps away from the white sandy beach of Napili Bay is this popular bar and grill. Check out their happy hour featuring both drink and food specials.

If you’re feeling outdoorsy…

  • Haleakala Crater: Known as the “House of the Sun,” Haleakala is best known for its sunrises and downhill bike tours. Soaring over 12,000 ft (3,600m) above sea level, temperatures are much cooler here than at the beach so bring along some warm clothing when visiting this national park.
  • Road to Hana: It’s not about the destination, it’s about the journey. With over 500 turns and countless one-lane bridges, this 50-mile long highway from Kahului to Hana is one of Maui’s most scenic drives. Featuring black sand beaches, bamboo forests, and breathtaking waterfalls, you will want to dedicate an entire day exploring the road to Hana.
  • Kaanapali Beach: Continually ranked as one of America’s top beaches, this west side resort destination should be at the top of your list. Many of Maui’s resorts are located along this picturesque beach featuring shopping, dining, and a variety of water activities.
  • Makena State Park: Commonly referred to as “Big Beach” this white sandy paradise is one of South Maui’s most popular beaches. Waves tend to be larger here so use caution when entering the ocean.
