There’s no need to leave your four-legged friends behind when exploring the City of Brotherly Love. Philly’s as inclusive a city as they come. From table side water bowls to tasty treats, these popular Philly haunts offer unforgettable culinary experiences for you and your pooch. Belly up to the bar or a table, and tuck in—you and your canine pals—to some of the best Philly has to offer.

White Dog Cafe

As the name suggests, White Dog Cafe is a neighborhood favorite among the university crowd, and equally a hit among their four-legged friends. The small patio on Sansom Street is a perfect place for your pooch to enjoy the serenity of this charming West Philly side street with a bowl of refreshing water while you tuck into locally-sourced fare. Leashes are recommended although not required.

Rouge

Come for the burgers, stay for the view. All of you. Rouge, a staid Rittenhouse institution is probably best known for its famous “Rouge Burger,” topped with caramelized onions and just the perfect amount of gruyere cheese. But its location across from the most popular park in Center City makes for some world-class people watching potential. Bring along your canine companion, who can munch on treats and drink from their own water bowl while you wine, dine, and while away the afternoon.

Square 1682

This elegant Rittenhouse locale located in the Hotel Palomar is known about town for its Bring Your Own Dog Brunch. Each Saturday and Sunday during summer months, Square 1682 opens its doors to humans and canines alike, even offering special dog-friendly treats on the menu. But brunch won’t just taste good; it’ll do good, too. A portion of the earnings from each dog bowl go to Lulu’s Rescue, a local animal rescue group. Dogs are welcome at the outdoor tables only, and reservations are recommended at this popular spot.

Paradiso Restaurant and Wine Bar

Paradiso Restaurant and Wine Bar is a decade-old East Passyunk favorite that serves up contemporary Italian cuisine in one of the nation’s oldest Italian neighborhoods. Tuck into a special dish such as Black Bucatini and Sweetbread Ravioli, reflective of the area’s vibrant modern dining scene. Chef Lynn Rinaldi offers homemade treats for your furry friends along with their very own water bowl while you enjoy her delicious creations at one of the restaurant’s sidewalk tables.

Valley Green Inn

Welcoming visitors to some of the most beautiful countryside in Pennsylvania since the 1930s, Valley Green Inn offers a cool and delicious respite after an invigorating walk with your pooch in this wooded corner of Fairmount Park. Dogs are welcome, and will be particularly pleased with Sunday Brunch, as each entree is served up with a garnish of breakfast sausage. Be a pal. Order an extra portion.

Izumi

Izumi, is a South Philly Japanese restaurant which flies beneath the radar, but is a favorite among locals and their fur babies, who are welcome to dine inside alongside their human parents. The restaurant’s fish selection is fresh, and flown in each day, lovingly transformed into sashimi and sushi creations almost too beautiful to eat.
