We are excited to announce that uberX will officially launch in St. George, Utah on Friday, June 17. Uber will service the St. George region including all of Washington County by seamlessly connecting riders to uberX drivers through the app. In addition, riders can request a ride to or from the St. George Airport.
To celebrate the launch, Mayor Jon Pike joined Uber driver-partner, Hal Utah Carter, as rider zero to take the first Uber trip in St. George. “The announcement of Uber’s arrival in St. George fits perfectly with our community’s 2016 theme of ‘More Happening Ahead’,” the Mayor said. “Uber’s innovative approach to transportation will serve our residents and visitors well for years to come. We are thrilled to be considered an Uber City!”
What is uberX?
In St. George, our ridesharing service uberX offers increased reliability with prices cheaper than a taxi. uberX driver-partners have mid-range or hybrid vehicles in a variety of colors and styles, with seating for up to four passengers. To maintain the Uber standard you expect, all driver-partners must undergo Uber’s rigorous screening process. In order to be an uberX driver-partner in St. George, a person must pass:
- A stringent screening process, including a driving and criminal history check
- Ongoing quality controls
At Uber, safety, before, during and after a ride is a priority. All Uber rides are backed by the driver’s insurance policy as well as our corporate insurance policy, and you will always have the option to rate every driver and contribute to the quality with your feedback. If you don’t see an uberX at first, don’t worry! Availability may be limited at times during the initial launch. Just refresh your Uber app after a few minutes to request a ride, and you’ll be on your way.
