SweetTree Home Care Services simplifies client and staff transportation with Uber Health
May 1 / USCare farming, or horticultural therapy, is an emerging field of clinical practice that recognises the benefits of interacting with animals, plants, and greenery. Research indicates that it can be effective in improving mental well-being and reducing stress for people across ages and abilities and with a range of care needs—including dementia care, disability care, and specialised learning.
SweetTree Home Care Services, a leading United Kingdom–based home care provider, owns and operates SweetTree Fields Farm, a care farm 16 kilometres north of London’s city centre that is designed to create positive experiences in a safe, nurturing, and social environment.
Getting clients and staff to the farm hasn’t always been that easy. After struggling to find high-quality, non-emergency transport with taxis and other local transportation providers—none of which were the right fit for SweetTree’s needs—the company turned to Uber Health.
SweetTree had previously used Uber to facilitate staff transportation to and from client homes and the care farm. In November 2023, SweetTree began using Uber Health to offer seamless, efficient care farm transportation to clients as well.
When a SweetTree client needs a ride to and from the farm, their care coordinator can order one for them through Uber Health’s solution, which has technical and organisational measures in place to ensure users’ privacy and protection. And if a SweetTree team member needs to cancel a shift at the last minute, arranging transportation for a substitute through Uber Health is straightforward and less costly than previous solutions.
“We experimented with a number of transportation options for our clients and staff but ultimately found that our needs were best met with Uber Health,” says Denis Repard, CEO of SweetTree Home Care Services. “Uber Health transforms how we coordinate care and enables us to remain an Outstanding provider. We can manage transportation logistics in an efficient, effective way—fewer cancellations, fewer disruptions, and more flexibility to get clients and staff where they need to go. This enables us to quickly and easily get folks out to the farm and achieve a crucial part of our mission, which is to give people purpose and independence.”
