About the Role

The FinTech Data Team plays a key role in converting raw data into valuable financial metrics, enabling ML models, and supporting KPIs across all Lines of Business (LOBs) through both real-time and batch processing. They monitor billions of dollars in global financial transactions, tracking hundreds of millions of events from over 15 upstream systems. This data serves as a definitive source for assessing business performance across regions and assists Uber in making strategic business decisions. Additionally, this team powers the FP&A (Financial Planning & Analytics) platform.

We are looking for a strong and passionate Data Engineer with experience in large scale system implementation, with a focus on complex data pipelines. This is a very high-impact role that will provide a holistic perspective on the Finance Technologies at Uber and brings with it, the opportunity to collaborate and interact with a global cross-functional group. You will be building High-performance scalable applications. Apart from building scalable architectures, you will also work with Product Managers to understand the domain of Finance and the nuances of various business's. FinTech is the backbone of Uber and we are looking for smart and motivated senior engineers who can make a difference and change the way FinTech works at Uber.

---- Basic Qualifications ----

  1. Building optimized ETL Data Pipelines that are scalable to petabytes
  2. Using Strong Data Warehousing and data modeling concepts for easy consumption of data
  3. Strong SQL Skills
  4. Performance Troubleshooting and Tuning and ensuring the highest Data quality
  5. Should be self-motivated and passionate about bringing efficiency into the system through optimizations.
  6. Exposure to Hive, Spark, and data infra concepts
  7. BA or above in Comp Science or related field

---- Preferred Qualifications ----

  1. Experience with large-scale data warehousing architecture and data modeling
  2. Any Programming and scripting language (e.g. Python, GO, Java/Scala)
  3. Designing end-to-end data solutions and architecture with Data governance as the backbone
  4. Knowledge of Hadoop-related technologies such as HDFS, Hive/Spark, PySpark Presto, Hive, Airflow, Hudi, DeltaLake
  5. Data warehouses like Snowflake, Redshift, Big Query etc
  6. Realtime processing using Flink, Spark Streaming, Pinot, STORM
  7. Cloud technologies (GCP is a big plus)

For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$158,000 per year - USD$175,500 per year.
