Account Management Lead
About the Role
Uber is seeking a skilled and motivated Account Management Lead to drive the success of our key fleet partners (taxi companies and other transportation providers) in Japan. This critical role will align the needs of fleet partners with Uber’s strategic goals to unlock accelerated growth, ensure operational excellence, and strengthen long-term relationships.
As the Account Management Lead, you will act as the face of Uber to fleet partners, helping them navigate operational challenges, regulatory complexities, and growth opportunities. You’ll also oversee the execution of strategic investments, such as monetary incentives, ensuring these deliver the expected returns. Additionally, you will support the technical system integration between fleet partners and Uber, ensuring seamless and efficient data exchange.
This role demands strong operational expertise, data-driven decision-making, and exceptional stakeholder management skills in a bilingual (Japanese and English) environment.
Your Impact in Role
- Fleet Partner Growth: Work closely with key taxi and other transportation partners to enhance their performance within Uber’s ecosystem, providing actionable insights and guidance to drive their success and growth.
- Operational Expertise: Leverage a deep understanding of fleet operations and Uber’s metrics to optimize processes and deliver measurable outcomes.
- Strategic Alignment: Translate Uber’s business goals into actionable strategies for fleet partners, aligning their objectives with Uber’s metrics to unlock accelerated growth.
- Incentive Management: Oversee the execution of strategic investments, such as monetary incentives, to drive fleet partner engagement and growth while ensuring Uber achieves expected returns on these investments.
- Stakeholder Management: Build and nurture strong relationships with fleet partners, serving as their primary advocate while working with internal teams to represent their needs.
- Data-Driven Insights: Analyze performance metrics, identify trends, and develop plans to improve fleet partner engagement and operational efficiency.
- Technical Integration: Support and coordinate the system integration between fleet partners and Uber, working with technical teams.
- Market Representation: Represent Uber in the market, acting as a trusted advisor and advocate for the fleet partner base.
- Incentive Strategies: Develop and execute incentive programs to maximize fleet partner contributions to Uber’s growth.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Lead and contribute to cross-functional initiatives, working with teams such as product, operations, legal, marketing, and policy to overcome challenges and deliver impactful results.
- Problem-Solving: Proactively identify and address operational and strategic challenges, delivering innovative and practical solutions.
- Regulatory Support: Guide fleet partners in navigating Japan’s regulatory landscape to ensure compliance and sustained success, especially as it relates to the execution of Japan's rideshare programs such as Nippon Rideshare and Communal Rideshare.
What You Will Need
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in account management, operations, management consulting, or a related field, ideally within mobility, transportation, or tech industries.
- Operational Expertise: Comprehensive understanding of fleet operations and the ability to design and implement scalable solutions.
- Analytical Skills: Strong data analysis capabilities with experience in identifying actionable insights from complex datasets. Google Sheets experience is required; SQL is a plus.
- Stakeholder Management: Proven ability to build and maintain long-lasting relationships with diverse stakeholders, including external partners and internal cross-functional teams.
- Strategic Thinking: Demonstrated ability to align operational initiatives with broader business goals and strategies.
- Problem-Solving: A proactive, hands-on approach to addressing challenges and delivering impactful solutions.
- Communication Skills: Native-level Japanese proficiency and strong English communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage diverse stakeholders in a bilingual environment.
- Self-Starter: High level of autonomy and ownership, with the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Adaptability: Capacity to navigate regulatory and operational complexities unique to the Japanese market.
- Travel Flexibility: Willingness to travel as required to support fleet partners across Japan.
- Proven success in driving growth and optimizing performance for external partners or clients supported by data driven decision making is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional projects and deliver results in high-growth environments is preferred.
