The countdown to 2017 has begun! Whether you’re celebrating New Year’s Eve with a fireworks show or at a friend’s house, Uber is a safe, convenient way you can get there and home again.
On this busy night, fares will be highest between midnight and 3am. Check the app to find the best time to ride and follow the tips below to enjoy a smooth ride into the New Year.
Know before you go with upfront fare estimates
As you ring in 2017, you can get a glimpse of what’s to come with an upfront fare estimate in the new Uber app, so be sure to update to the new version of the app before you head out.
With the new app, you’ll see the estimated cost of your ride before requesting an Uber. Fares fluctuate based on demand, so if it’s out of your price range, check back for lower fares. It’s typically busiest after the fireworks.
Split the fare
Start the party early by sharing an Uber with your friends, and you can even split the fare in the app.
Confirm your driver
New Year’s Eve is going to be busy, so make sure you get into the right car with the right driver. Double check your driver’s car model and licence plate in the app before you hop in your ride.
Share your trip details
Whether you’re running early, late, or right on time, keep your family and friends posted by sharing your trip details with them straight from the app.
Be a friend, look out for your mates
Uber has partnered with DrinkWise to encourage Aussies to Be a Friend and look out for their mates to ensure we all make smarter, better, safer decisions when drinking. This New Year’s Eve, drink wise and ride safe with Uber.
Contact support
If you wake up in 2017 and realise that you lost an item back in 2016, don’t worry. You can contact your driver directly in the app to track down your lost items. Or contact our Help Centre for all other issues.
That’s it! Have a great New Year’s Eve and we’ll see you next year.
