The best Sydney beaches to visit this summer

Bondi Beach
Think ‘Sydney’, and Australia’s most famous beach, Bondi, immediately comes to mind. With rolling surf and golden sands, Bondi is patrolled by lifesavers year-round. It’s also just 7 km east of the city, so you could be sunning yourself in no time.

Bronte Beach
Walk south from Bondi and you’ll come to the small beach of Bronte, set on the pretty Bronte Park. The current can be quite strong, so for a relaxing dip, jump into the pristine waters of Bronte Baths, a rock pool at the south end of the beach.

Coogee Beach
Continue along the Bondi to Coogee coastal walk, passing the sheltered Clovelly and you should arrive at Coogee in about 45 minutes- or jump in an Uber to save time. It’s a calm, family-friendly beach popular with tourists.

Manly Beach
The most famous of Sydney’s northern beaches is a favourite amongst seasoned surfers, and great for learners too. Fancy a snorkel? Pop round the headland to Shelly Beach.

Balmoral Beach
With its 1930s landmarks, this sheltered beach boasts beautiful views, and is a favourite amongst families, picnickers and wedding parties. It’s also the perfect place for fish and chips by the sea.
