We all know Uber ratings are a two way street, with riders and driver-partners rating each journey from 1 to 5 stars. But with less than 20 percent of riders having a perfect score, chances are you aren’t one of the 5 star riders. So what’s stopping you from achieving a perfect rating? It may be simpler than you think.
Here are 5 tips to increase your chances of 5-star status.
- Location, location, location
Many riders either drop their pin in the wrong spot, request a ride before they’re at their pickup spot, or try to get picked up in no-go zones like at bus stops or in no-stopping areas. Take a moment to check you pickup location – you can even enter it manually or edit it before pickup – and save everyone a headache. If you are running late, you can let your driver know through the in-app messaging feature. - Say g’day
It’s surprising how many people forget basic pleasantries like saying hello, please, thank you and ‘enjoy the rest of your day’. It may seem obvious, but taking a moment to greet your driver and ask them how their day is going is one of the best ways to make a good first impression. This can make a big difference to your driver’s experience, and to your rating. - No slamming
When you’re in a rush, it’s all too easy to jump out of the car, bang the door shut and disappear. But for you driver, this can come across as rude, and can also damage their car. So say your goodbyes, thank your driver, and close the door firmly without slamming it. When it comes to rider ratings, ending things on a positive note can be even more important than making a good first impression. - Take your rubbish with you
It goes without saying that you should take your rubbish with you, but not every rider does. Unless your driver offers you somewhere to leave your rubbish, make sure you take your used coffee cup or kebab when you leave. - Avoid back seat driving
No one likes a back seat driver, so telling driver-partners to speed up, change lanes last minute or run a yellow light is a shortcut to a low rider rating. Need to change your destination or add pickup points? Update your final destination or use the Multiple Destinations feature to add up to two extra stops along the way in the app. Easy!
How do I check my rating?
