For years burgers, pizzas and fries have ruled our eating habits with healthy eating increasingly more difficult. Now its summer, we’re looking to start the year fresh, and luckily a new health food trend is in our sights. A colourful, more nutritious cult hero has emerged…poké. (pronounced po-kay)

Poké is a Hawaiian dish with a distinct Japanese feel – at its most simplest it’s soy-infused raw tuna and mixed vegetables on a bed of rice. Many unique adaptations of this bowl have exploded into popularity on UberEATS which include; salmon, tofu, poached chicken, kingfish and a host of other alternatives.

Christian Robertson and Simon Tammesild of Melbourne’s Poké Me attribute the success of Australia’s rapidly growing food trend to the fact it is fresh, fast and unique.

“We are focussed on providing an innovative solution to keeping a healthy fun lifestyle that is easy and accessible.”

“All of our produce and proteins are prepared fresh daily, sometimes even two or three times a day to keep the quality with the end customer. We also pickle a few of the vegetables to assist with digestion and maximise their flavour potential.” Christian said.

Poké Me opened just over seven weeks ago in South Yarra joining the likes of Mahalo Poké, Pokéd, Poki Time and Point Break Poké on UberEATS – all now part of the movement sweeping the town.

“We have been overwhelmed with the response that we have had from UberEATS. Ever since we came up with our concept, we knew that it would be an integral part of our business and we were not wrong.” Christian said.

It’s now only a matter of time before these gorgeous bowls sweep the nation. Stay tuned for Poke in your city – the UberEATS app will be the best place to find it.
