Shared trips with you in mind
What is UberX Share?
UberX Share is a new type of trip option for two or more riders going in similar directions to share a single ride. We know new things can be stressful, so we designed UberX Share with you in mind.
- You’ll get a $1 pickup incentive when picking up a second rider*. Each rider can only request one seat.
- You still charge the same rates as UberX, but with more riders on a trip, a shared trip is likely to be longer and that means a higher fare for you.
- If a rider doesn’t arrive at the pickup location within 2 minutes, you’ll have the option to cancel and charge a cancellation fee.
- If you have Quest goals, each shared rider pickup counts so you can hit your goals faster!
How UberX Share works
- You’ll see a request for “UberX Share” in the app for your first rider, just like UberX.*
- When you accept an UberX Share trip, the Driver app will search for ways to pick up more riders along the route.*
- You’ll be notified when other co-riders are added to the shared trip. For more options, including seeing the rider’s star rating or to decline the request, you can tap the bottom of your screen and then the rider’s name.* You’ll get a $1 pickup incentive when picking up a second rider.***
- If a rider doesn’t arrive at the pickup location within 2 minutes, you’ll have the option to cancel and charge a cancellation fee.
- UberX Share has your safety in mind
All riders will be required to uphold Uber’s Community Guidelines, so your only focus can be on the road ahead. Plus, you’ll have access to the full set of in-app safety tools. Learn more about Uber safety tools.
- UberX Share has your earnings in mind
Earn at least as much as an UberX trip along the same route.** More riders also means longer trips, and longer trips means higher fares earned by you. Plus, you’ll get a $1 pickup incentive when picking up a second rider.***
- UberX Share has your time in mind
If a rider doesn't arrive within 2 minutes, you'll have the option to cancel and charge the cancellation fee.
- UberX Share has your goals in mind
Reach Quest goals faster (if eligible). Every pickup you complete counts towards your promotions.
*You always have the flexibility to decline requests for UberX Share trips, and to decline added co-riders, with no penalties.
**For each UberX Share trip, the Fare is at least as much as an equivalent UberX trip starting at the pickup of the first rider and ending at the dropoff of the last rider, apportioned amongst the co-riders. For full Fare details please refer to your current Driver Addendum in the Driver Portal under My Profile > Contracts.
***The $1 pickup incentive applies only to the second rider pickup in a shared trip, and is a promotion not a guarantee of future earnings.
