Uber gift cards and vouchers, offered by Uber for Business, provide credits for rides and meals.
Either one will delight your employees or customers, but which is best for your business? To help you decide, we’ll review each solution and how companies use them.
What are Uber gift cards?
Gift cards enable companies to give Uber credit to guests or employees. Recipients control how and when to use the gift card, which can be redeemed in the Uber and Uber Eats apps.
Gift card credits will apply to your recipient’s next ride or order with Uber Eats by default, but they can confirm their payment method before they complete an order. Any remaining Uber credit in their account after taking a ride or ordering a meal will stay in the account for future use. When a trip or meal exceeds the balance on their gift card, the recipient will be asked to add funds to cover the rest of the cost.
You can send recipients digital gift cards by text, email, or print. Physical gift cards are available through our sales team.
With gift cards, your organization can offer:
- One redemption code for all Uber solutions
- No service fees or expiration dates
- Digital codes that can be sent to multiple regions
How companies use Uber gift cards
To reward employees
Provide gift cards to your employees to give recognition. Award employees for survey completions, sales contests, or when team goals are met.
To incentivize customers
Offer gift cards as incentives to your customers. Gift cards can be used for loyalty programs or member rewards programs. In addition, your business can use them to incentivize behavior such as completing a survey or purchasing products.

What are vouchers?
Vouchers empower organizations to fully or partially pay for Uber products for employees or guests.
You can distribute Uber credit to recipients and set controls like expiration dates, location restrictions, and/or day and time the credit can be used. Recipients can request rides or meals from their Uber or Uber Eats app and apply the voucher toward their purchase. You only pay for rides and meals that they redeem.
There are 3 types of vouchers:
- Vouchers for all Uber products: Applies across Uber Eats and rides
- Voucher for Uber Eats: Fully covers or provides a discounted meal on Uber Eats
- Vouchers for rides with Uber: Fully covers or provides a discounted ride voucher
Vouchers may be distributed by email or text from Uber (recommended), through an email sent from your organization with a URL link leading directly to the Uber app, or through a code that recipients enter directly into the Uber app.
With vouchers, your organization can offer:
- Vouchers in multiple currencies
- Tailored guidelines for recipients
- Easy redemption by email or text
How companies use vouchers
To offer employee perks
Give vouchers to your employees as a perk. Help pay for commute rides; keep teams well fed during meetings, in person or virtually; or provide rides to and from the airport.
To give customers VIP treatment
Use vouchers to make your customers feel like VIPs. Help event attendees head home seamlessly with a voucher for a courtesy ride; drive sales and increase purchase value by offering vouchers as a reward for purchases; or take care of a prospective customer’s meal during a sales lunch.
