What is Uber’s EV Assistance?

EV Assistance is a financial grant introduced by Uber to support London drivers with the upfront cost of purchasing an electric vehicle (EV) to drive on the Uber app. It  can be used to lower the cost of a new or used EV when opting for a vehicle through your provider of choice or one of our partners!

Want to find out how much EV Assistance you may be eligible for? Fill in this form and we will share your EV Assistance amount with you via email.

How much EV Assistance can I access?

  • Eligible non-EV drivers in London can qualify for up to £3,500 in EV Assistance towards the cost of switching to an EV.

  • Drivers may be eligible for up to £3,000 in EV Assistance towards the cost of switching to an EV until 30th September 2025.

How do I know if I am eligible?

To be eligible to claim EV Assistance, you must meet the following criteria:

      • Completed fewer than 50 EV trips in an active EV on your account between 1st June and 1st December 2024.
      • Have an EV added to your account by 31st March 2025.
      • Have not previously used EV Assistance to buy an EV, or used your full allocated EV Assistance and then switched back to a no
      • Completed fewer than 50 EV trips in an active EV on your account in the 6 months before 1st April 2025.
      • Have an EV added to your account by 30th September 2025.
      • Have not previously used EV Assistance to buy an EV, or used your full allocated EV Assistance and then switched back to a non-EV.

If you don’t meet all the above criteria, you won’t be eligible for the funding.

    Using EV Assistance

When it comes to using your EV Assistance, there are two ways in which you can do this:

    1. EV ClaimBack: when you source your EV yourself.
    2. Uber Marketplace: when you get an EV from one of our vehicle partners.

    EV ClaimBack

    • To receive the payment you’ll need to:

      • Have an ‘Active’ EV on your Driver account (the same EV you are claiming for); and
      • Have 150 trips completed in that EV in the past 8 weeks (the 8 weeks preceding the 5th day of the payment month); and
      • Have EV Assistance to claim

      Important Notice: EV ClaimBack Monitoring
We monitor and may limit multiple EV Assistance payments on the same vehicle within a short time period to minimise fraudulent behaviour.

    • This depends on if you are the named keeper on the V5 (Vehicle Logbook):

      •  Not named on V5): Receive £300 per month until the EV Assistance is used up (provided you maintain 150 EV trips in the past 8 weeks ).
      •  Named on V5: The entire amount of EV Assistance is paid directly.

If you are not named on the V5, you’ll have to meet the payment criteria each month - don’t worry though, you only need to submit the form once, our team will check every month going forward for you.

        • Applications: Once you submit your claim it will enter the queue for review.
        • Reviews: Our team checks whether you meet the eligibility criteria - including the amount you will receive.
        • Payments: Our team pays the EV Assistance directly into your Uber Account. You’ll find this under ‘miscellaneous payments’. Payments are completed by the 10th day of each month (or the next working day).
        • If you miss the Application window: Don’t worry, you’ll be reviewed in the following cycle.
        • You may be ineligible for a certain reason, we’ve explained this below
        • No EV on account: You need to an EV and start taking trips to claim
        • Not enough trips: You need 150 trips in your EV (in the last  8 weeks) from the date you submit your claim.
        • No EV Assistance to claim: Unfortunately, this means you have either; used up your EV Assistance, or you have not had EV Assistance to claim.
      • Yes! You will still need to meet the other eligibility criteria. We encourage you to find the best deal at the right price point, many drivers love their pre-owned EVs

      Uber Marketplace

      • This is when EV Assistance is used on your EV upfront. The payment goes from Uber directly to the vehicle partner to lower your costs before you even start driving!

The vehicle partner will check your eligibility with Uber to confirm the funds.

        • £100 or more in EV Assistance is built up; and
        • You have completed 150 trips at the time of their check
      • This depends on whether you buy, rent or rent-to-buy an EV from our partners:

Rental: £300 per month until the £5,000 is used up; or

Rent-to-buy: £5,000 applied over the whole vehicle contract and discounted from each weekly payment; or

Cash or hire purchase: £5,000 applied to deposit contribution – used upfront and in full.

      • You can find all of our partner deals on the Uber Marketplace. We have a wide variety of makes and models and our partners get new options regularly.

      • You can use your EV Assistance to lower your costs before you even get the keys! Plus, our experienced partners have PCO-friendly offers and some packages include insurance, servicing and more to give you peace of mind. Finally, with some exceptional discounts to be had on brand new EV models you’ll be able to save big!

      • No, many of our partners have new and used EV models that are very popular with drivers. Enquire with them directly to find the right deal for you - don’t forget to say you have EV Assistance.
