A guide to Uber payment options

With Uber, the goal has always been to travel with ultimate convenience – and that includes payment. Of course, our service was designed with card payment in mind, but there are a variety of ways to pay for a ride. So, it’s time for a quick guide to Uber payment options in the UK.

Card Payments
Make paying for rides simple with the original Uber payment method. With your card registered and selected in the app, any payments for rides will be automatically charged to the card.
When you create an Uber account, you will be asked to enter a card or other payment method for use on rides. If you’d like to add a new card, just select “Payment” on the app menu, tap “Add Payment” and then select card. You can then enter your card details manually or scan your card in with your device’s camera.
Online Payments
If you’d rather not use your card details, you can also use a number of online payment services to pay for an Uber ride, such as Google Pay or PayPal.
To register one of these services to your Uber account, head to the “Payment” section, select “Add Payment Method” and select the service you would like to add. From there, you will have to go through some extra verification, but once set up, payments will be processed after a ride just as if you were using your card.

Uber gift card payment
You can also use a gift card to add ride credits to your Uber account. To add it to your account, just head to the “Payments” section as usual. Tap “Add Payment Method”, select “Gift Card” and then just enter the gift code.
The gift card will then be added to your account and will automatically apply to your next ride. To change back to a normal payment method, just tap “Change payment method” when you go to request a ride and toggle “Uber Credits” to turn them off.
Tip: You can also swap payment methods at the bottom of the screen before the end of a ride.

So, whether your card is running low or you’d just like to pay online, there’s a series of ways to pay to suit any situation. Just pick a payment option and you’re ready to ride.
