Nairobi, Your Uberx is arriving now!

Nairobi, the “Green City in the Sun” is East Africa’s economic powerhouse. Locals tear into meat in restaurants squeezed between car parks and casinos, or overlooking the misty green hills that fall into the Great Rift Valley on the edge of the city. Families explore the city park, where giraffes contend with high-rises to fill the skyline.

Nairobi is also a city of huge aspiration: lunchtime botox sessions, Imax cinemas and city spas contrast with flamboyant street sellers who hawk roast corn and sugar cane. The city has it all, but as of today, it has one more feather in its cap, it has Uber!

Nairobi now has a safe, reliable and convenient transportation option. And it’s no wonder that Sharon Mundia – an award winning fashion & lifestyle blogger, columnist at Capital FM Lifestyle, and the face of Samsung Kenya’s new A Series phones decided to open up her Uber app, request her first Uber ride (and the first in all of Kenya!) and within minutes her uberX delivered her safely from her home to a business meeting in trendy Westlands.

Later in the day, tech heavyweights Mbugua Njihia (a self-confessed child of Africa but citizen of the world) and Harry Hare (a serial entrepreneur with a passion for publishing & development) also decided to push the button and get a ride to their next power lunch downtown.
