
Service Fee Quest is an Uber promotion that allows you to unlock a lower service fee and keep more of the trip fare, giving you better control over how you use the Uber app.
How does Service Fee Quest work?
Each week you’ll be offered two Quests – a default and a higher offer. They’ll appear in your Promotions Hub a few days before the Quest period starts on Mondays at 4AM. They’ve been designed so that drivers with different schedules can all benefit from the programme, so just decide which works best for you.
Here’s how it works:
- Quest selection opens every Friday at 7PM and closes on Sunday at midnight. Go to the Promotions section in your Driver app and choose the Quest that best fits your driving schedule (default or Higher)
- If you forget to do this before the Quest period starts, don’t worry, we’ll automatically opt you into the default Offer so you don’t miss out
- Once you’ve completed the required number of trips in your Quest, whether that’s on the first, second, or third day, you’ll automatically switch to a lower service fee for every other trip you take until the end of the Quest period.
- When the Quest ends, your service fee will revert back to 20%
You choose the option that works best for you and how much you want to drive. You can find details of your available Quests in the Promotions section of your Driver app.
You are not required to complete any minimum number of trips and there is no issue if you sign up for a Quest but don’t complete it for any reason. Once a Quest ends, you can sign up to another.
Important things to know about Service Fee Quest
Default Opt-in: You will now be automatically opted-in to the default Quest every week. This means you don’t need to remember to select a Quest twice a week. You will always have the options to upgrade your quest between Friday 7PM and Sunday at midnight.
Weeklong Offers: Each Quest, both the default and higher offer, will now last for 7 days – from Monday 4AM to Monday 4AM. We will no longer have separate Weekday and Weekend offers.
Qualifying trips: Trips towards your target must be accepted within the Quest period. Trips on a lower service fee must also be accepted before the Quest period ends. Cancelled trips will not count towards totals or have the promotion applied.
Trip fare calculation: With Service Fee Quest, Uber takes the 20% service fee as normal and then pays back the difference as a promotional payment. You can see this on your trip fare calculation under ‘You saved – Quest’.
Payment statement & Waybill: This additional promotional payment from Service Fee Quest is included in the “Gross fare” on your Payment Statement. Gross fare is included on your Waybill and includes tolls, surcharges and fees. These are not subject to service fee.

- Do you have to make the trip threshold during the first day?
Down Small No, you have the entire period of the Quest to hit your trip threshold to benefit from the lower service fee. Once a Quest goes live on Mondays at 4AM you will have the whole week to reach the trip target. Once you hit the target, you will be able to benefit from a lower service fee for all trips until the following Quest begins.
- Do I have to opt-in every time I want to be part of the Quest?
Down Small No, you no longer have to opt-in for Quest – we will automatically include you in the Default Quest. However, you will always have the option to upgrade to a Higher Quest.
- Who is eligible for the Service Fee Quest?
Down Small This offer is only for drivers who directly received the offer from Uber. This Quest promotion applies to completed trips on all Uber products except for Assist and Access. Trips eligible for a discounted service fee must be completed within locations specified within the app. Please check promotion details in the app for more information on offer restrictions. The Quest promotions may differ week on week. The Quest promotion is only applicable to the recipient of the email.
- Do I have to choose a Quest?
Down Small It’s entirely up to you whether you would like to participate in this promotion. All eligible drivers will be automatically opted in to the Default offer, but there is no obligation to hit the trip target. If you don’t hit the target, you will continue to receive trips with the regular service fee of 20%. We would also like to let you know that you’re not required to complete any minimum number of trips, and there is no issue if you sign up for a Quest but don’t complete it for any reason.
