Samsung helps customers support local businesses with popular Uber Eats promotion
16 February 2021 / Netherlands
When COVID-19 hit, the team at Samsung Canada knew they wanted to do more than a typical discount promotion for their popular Galaxy devices. Instead, they were interested in doing something unique that would help support local businesses.
After connecting with Uber for Business and brainstorming ideas, they came up with a unique promotion. Samsung offered customers $100 worth of Uber Eats credit with the purchase of any Galaxy S20 Series 5G, Galaxy S10 Series, Galaxy Note10 Series, or Galaxy Tab S6 in Canada.
Within the first 30 days, it was clear the customer response was overwhelmingly positive. Samsung reported a huge demand for tablets that resulted in a 20% increase in mobile device sales during the time frame of the promotion. This was 30% higher than the original forecast.
”Our partnership with Uber for Business was rewarding in many respects,” says Jennifer Safruk, Vice President, Mobile Sales & Product Management, Samsung. “Samsung Galaxy customers received a meaningful bonus with their device purchase, and together we were able to support our local business community.”
After people bought a qualifying device, they received a promotion code for $25 off up to 4 separate orders through Uber Eats. The multichannel rollout of the promotion included social media posts, customer emails, and promotions on Samsung.com, including Galaxy Store, Samsung Members, Samsung Pay, and Samsung Health.
“This is a great example of the creative, compelling ways that Uber for Business’s offerings can help drive sales for our customers,” says Paul Farris, Head of Business Strategy and Operations, Uber for Business. “Our team excels at partnering with our customers to meet their corporate goals while benefiting the end user.”
