Statement from Richard Menzies, General Manager Uber New Zealand
Yesterday the New Zealand Government moved to formally recognise ridesharing as part of the country’s transport system.
This is the final stage in recognising your right to provide safe, affordable and reliable rides to Kiwis.
We greatly appreciate the support you have given us! Today’s reform is a testament to the quality service you provide to riders.
This wouldn’t have been possible without ACT MP David Seymour’s advocacy for sensible ridesharing regulations, as well as the efforts of the Minister for Transport, Simon Bridges MP, to deliver these reforms.
At this stage, no action is needed from you. We will keep you updated in the coming months as we transition into the new regulatory framework. If any changes apply to you, we will guide you through the process at the appropriate time.
On behalf of the Uber team, I would like to thank you for playing such a vital role in connecting Kiwis with their cities.
Thank you,
Richard Menzies
General Manager
