The Uber app provides convenient and affordable transport in the city. Communication between passengers and drivers is done via the app. Usually, everything works automatically and you do not need to contact the driver directly to arrange a ride. However, you may need to contact them directly, for example, if you want to provide additional information about the pick-up point or if you realize that something of yours has been left in the car after the ride is over. Whatever the reason, you can use the Uber app’s driver contact feature.

If you want to detail your location or discuss the details of a ride with a driver, you can seamlessly do so via the Uber app. Simply find the driver box at the bottom of the screen after ordering a ride and click on the phone icon to contact the driver by phone. You can also send him a message by clicking on the text box. This way you can conveniently and quickly provide details of your pick-up location. On the other hand, if you want to report a lost item after a ride, simply go to the menu, then select “Your rides”, find the ride during which you lost the item, click on it and select “Lost item” and then “Contact the driver about the item left behind”. You then leave your phone number and wait for contact.

In order to ensure the privacy of drivers and passengers, we do not pass on direct telephone numbers to anyone. In the interest of privacy and security, all phone contacts are made via the app. Also, remember that the driver may not always be on the phone because they may be driving at the time.

Did you leave your phone in the car? Don’t panic, everything can be fixed! You can also contact the driver to report a left-behind item via Uber’s help on the website. Just log in, find the relevant ride and select the “Lost item” function. You can ask the driver to pick up your lost item for you. In this case, we will add a £25 fee. We will pass this on to the driver to cover the cost of the journey. Alternatively, you can collect your lost item free of charge – ask the driver where you should drive to collect the item without being charged.

Is that all?

Yes! It is really easy to contact the driver before or after the ride, and it is also completely safe, as you both maintain complete privacy and do not share your phone numbers. Keep in mind, however, that contact will not always be immediate, as the driver will not always be able to talk on the phone due to the nature of the job. If you are unable to contact the driver for 48 hours, please let us know. Remember that it is a good idea to try to connect with the driver at different times of the day.
