Starting using a new product or service might be a bit confusing and we’re happy to assist our riders when they make their first steps with Uber. Below you can find the answers to the most frequently asked questions we’re getting from our first riders in Kyiv. Hope you’ll find them useful.
- How to request a ride?
To request an Uber follow the next steps:
-when open the app tap “choose pickup location”, the app will set your pickup location via GPS;
-if you need to change the location, type in your exact address. You can also input your destination there;
-choose “Request uberX”.
If you’re getting message “No cars available”, please wait a couple of minutes and try to request again.
- How are the tariffs calculated?
Uber trip fare is calculated as a sum of base fare, fare per km and per minute of the ride. The following taffirs for uberX in Kyiv are: 25 UAH – base fare, 4.5 UAH per km and 0.4 UAH per minute. By inputting pick-up location and your destination in the app, you can can see approximate tariff for the trip in the bottom of the screen.
- Are there any fixed fares?
Yes, from 26.07.2016 there’s a fixed fare for trips to/from Boryspil International Airport. 270 UAH – tariff from/to any address on The Right Bank of Kyiv, and 190 UAH – tariff from/to any destination on The Left Bank of the city.

You can ask the driver, but it is up to them to accept this or not. Uber provides city transportation, though the drivers will definitely get you to the distances up to 2,5 km from the ring road.

No, it’s not possible in Kyiv. Uber platform always sends your request to the nearest driver, which is why you get a car only if you request it imminently.
- What is cancellation fee?
In Uber we appreciate the partners’ time and, thus, we always compensate the time spent on the road to the passenger if the trip never took place. In that case, user can be charged with a volume of 40 USD, if:
-you cancelled trip more than 5 minutes after you have accepted the request
-you are late for more than 5 minutes after driver has arrived at the pickup location, and you didn’t contact the driver to let him know about your delay
User doesn’t charged a cancellation fee, if:
-you cancelled trip during first 5 minutes after making request
-driver is late for more than 5 minutes (after ETA, which you’ve accepted while made request)
Mention that if you are late, you can notify driver that you are late via call or sms.
