Do you know what has motivate these women to become Uber driver partners – a job commonly reserved for men? That the strength from the will to dedicate, discover and live their own lives.
This International Women’s Day, with the theme of #drivenwomen, let’s hear the stories of our female driver partners and appreciate theme for their courage and dedication on every journey.
1. Ms. Thi Thinh Nguyen, uberMOTO driver-partner
I’m a driver for a long time. I used to be a traditional moto taxi driver for more than a year, now I’m with Uber. To be honest, as I aged, my family said that I shouldn’t drive. But I’m living alone now, without pension, so I need to make a living. When I first started, I felt like an amateur, took me a week to learn how to use this app.
Being an Uber driver brings me so much fun,
Once i was sitting at the street side vendor, some men approached and teased me, I just said “If you want anything, come and talk to me’ .
2. Ms. My Huong, uberX driver-partner
“Oh my! Our driver is a lady, can you drive?”
On arrival: “I can’t believe that you can drive this good, even better than me, you navigated through the alleys like a pro!”
I’ve been a driver for 2 years, sometime the gents offered to drive for me and the girls said they admired me, they got the licenses but they do not dare to drive.
Everyday meeting new people, talking with them motivate me alot. I have a notebook on the backseat, the riders usually wrote the comments for me. After I retire, this will be such a loving memory for me
I think no matter what you do, you gotta love it to perfect it. My advice to the fellow ladies: If you’re staying at home, doing housework but you want to come out and work more actively like driving with Uber, do not hesitate, stand up and do whatever you like.
3. Ms. Thi Linh Nguyen, uberMOTO driver-partner
One day I happened to read the recruiting news for Uber’s partner, I was curious and decided to try it … I mostly drive on the evening because it was the most free time. Maybe because my nature is always happy, sociable and especially responsible for the work, so I am very enthusiastic about this work, on every trips, I start to love the name Uber! Each trip completed trip brought me a fun and happiness.
From a geodetic engineer to a Uber partner, there is no such thing as ‘no women zonet’ that Linh can not approach. She has represented herself as a model of a modern, independent woman.
Linh is also a regular member of many clubs organized by Uber for partners such as Defense Martial Arts Club, Football Club. She has new friends, always support each other, eliminating prejudice “driving is the work reserved for men”.
