Uber Comfort now available in South Africa

We’re introducing Uber Comfort, a new ride option offered to riders looking for extra comfort and enhanced on-trip experience that will help you make extra money.

A better earning opportunity 

An Uber Comfort trip earns you more than the equivalent UberX trip. Paid wait time and cancellation fees are higher in comparison to UberX.

For highly-rated drivers only

Access is a reflection of high driver rating, and vehicle standard. Drivers that meet the required level will start receiving trips when they go online with an eligible vehicle!

Elevated Service

Uber Comfort attracts riders happy to pay a premium. Access a category of riders who have higher expectations in terms of service and vehicle comfort.

With Ride Preferences, your rider can request their ideal in-car temperature and let you know if they wish to chat, all before you arrive.

Opt-in

Eligible drivers will be automatically opted into the Comfort product, dependent on age of vehicle inspection. To ensure we launch a high level quality product worthy of the higher fares, all UberX vehicles with an inspection older than 6 months will need to undergo a new inspection prior to accessing the product.

Vehicle eligibility criteria

Vehicles are max 5 years old, so only vehicles starting from 2017 will be eligible. In addition, to ensure the right level of comfort and quality a few eligible vehicle types have been selected. 

If you find yourself with a new vehicle make and model, 2021 onwards  and believe that it should be added to the Comfort list please contact our support via the Uber Driver app.

Driver eligibility criteria

Uber Comfort was designed to maximize your earning possibilities on the Uber platform. Drivers meeting both the vehicle (above) and quality requirements (below) are eligible for Comfort and will be automatically enrolled:

Uber Black drivers with the right rating will be able to cross-dispatch to Comfort
