At Uber, we’re committed to letting you move around in a simpler, more accessible and more sustainable way than ever before. This is why we’ve introduced UberGREEN, which lets you request an eco-friendly ride at the tap of a button. Johannesburg experienced this eco-friendly product for 6 weeks and now it’s Cape Town’s turn until 31st August 2016.
UberGREEN is a pilot project which offers 100% electric rides with BMW i3, at uberX prices.
Nedbank customers will be able to get up to 25% off all their UberGREEN riders from Wednesday 24th to Wednesday 31st August 2016!
HOW TO RIDE WITH UBERGREEN:
- Open your Uber app
- Select the UberGREEN option, set your pickup location and request a ride
- If successful, you could find yourself taking a trip in an electric car
**UberGREEN will only be available between 7:00AM to 7:00PM on WEEKDAYS and in Cape Town CBD and Atlantic Seaboard**
As UberGREEN is still a pilot project, the number of electric cars will be limited and you can expect demand to be high.
Throughout the trial, we will be measuring the CO2 emissions you will be saving by choosing an UberGREEN ride, as opposed to a fossil fuel one. This is a step towards a more sustainable mobility that will help us answer a simple albeit important question: what is the impact of carbon-free, on-demand travel in reducing CO2 emissions in South Africa?
We count on you for this ride towards greener mobility in Cape Town.
