How autonomous vehicles work on Uber
Once autonomous rides on Uber are available in London, you may be matched with an autonomous vehicle when requesting an UberX, Uber Comfort, or Uber Comfort Electric* from an eligible location. To improve your chances of being matched with one, join the interest list in the Uber app.
Follow these steps to register for the interest list in London:
1. Make sure you’re using the most up-to-date version of the Uber app available in the App Store or Google Play
2. Open the app and select "Account" in the bottom right-hand corner
3. Choose "Settings"
4. Scroll down to Ride Preferences and select "Autonomous vehicles"
5. Select "Join interest list" to sign up

Once the programme is live, being on the list also increases your chances of matching with a Wayve autonomous vehicle when you request a ride in the service area.
How do I add myself to the waiting list?
You can join the interest list directly in the Uber app. Here’s how to do it:
- Update your Uber app to the latest version via the app store
- Open the Uber app and tap on Account in the bottom right corner
- Tap on Settings
- Scroll down to Ride Preferences and tap on Autonomous vehicles
- Tap the button at the bottom that says Join interest list
