Uber has been awarded the highest rating—three out of three stars—by the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) Road Safety Index. This recognition underscores Uber’s leadership in road safety and our commitment to making mobility safer for millions of people worldwide.

The FIA Road Safety Index is a comprehensive, independent audit that evaluates companies’ road safety performance based on key criteria, including risk management, safety policies, technological innovations, and overall impact on traffic safety. Uber’s top rating reflects our extensive safety efforts, in the more than 70 countries that Uber operates, and including both our four-wheel and two-wheel Moto business.

“In everything we do at the FIA, in motor sport and mobility, safety always comes first,” said Willem Groenewald, Secretary General for Automobile Mobility at the FIA. “The FIA Road Safety Index provides a powerful tool for businesses to assess their safety impact and drive meaningful improvements, and Uber’s achievement of the highest rating demonstrates its ability to lead change by prioritizing safety through innovation, data-driven policies, and proactive risk management. This reflects the company’s commitment to continuous improvement and its contribution to making our roads safer.”

The assessment was led by Anders Lie and Claes Tingvall, two of the world’s foremost road safety experts. Their expertise has shaped global best practices in traffic safety, and their evaluation ensures that the rating is based on comprehensive, evidence-based criteria.

“Uber has demonstrated a deep commitment to road safety through continuous transformation, responsible policies, and strong industry leadership,” said Anders Lie, auditor of the FIA Road Safety Index and renowned road safety expert. “Their integration of safety technology, data-driven reporting, and proactive risk management sets a new benchmark for mobility companies worldwide.”

Claes Tingvall, auditor of the FIA Road Safety Index and co-founder of Vision Zero echoed this sentiment: “Their clear commitment to comply with fundamental road rules and internal safety standards is both impressive and effective, setting a strong example for the personal transportation industry. By prioritizing safety across all aspects of their operations, Uber is making a meaningful impact in reducing road risks globally.”

Over the years, Uber has pioneered road safety innovations such as Bike Lane Alerts, Audio Seat Belt Reminders, and crash detection. Building on these efforts, we’ve introduced new safety features including safer routing to minimize risky left turns and highlighting unprotected intersections. We are also leveraging telematics technology to provide drivers with real-time feedback and insights to improve their driving behaviors.

“We are honored to receive the highest rating from the FIA Road Safety Index and deeply appreciate the auditor’s thoughtful assessment of our work,” said Roger Kaiser, Global Head of Safety Operations at Uber. “This recognition reinforces our unwavering commitment to keeping our users safe. From investing in cutting-edge technology to continuously improving safety features, our focus remains on ensuring every ride is safer and more reliable for everyone who uses our platform.”
