A new year means fresh starts and trying new things. However, sometimes the what-ifs and unknowns are what hold us back. They hinder us from exploring new options that can lead to our next opportunities or adventures. Are you, or your friends and family hesitant to try Uber for the first time? If you’re curious about driving with Uber, we wanted to lend you some advice, straight from the source, to defeat your reservations and get on the road.

Driving with Uber

Interested in driving but uncertainties are holding you back? There are thousands of Uber driver-partners around the world and many of them have felt the same way. Here are some PRO tips that may help.

Make yourself a “Local”

If you’re unfamiliar or new to your city, get on the road before you take your first trip so you can get to know the areas you’ll be driving around. Although the Uber Partner app has map options to help guide your trips, having a good understanding of roads and neighborhoods can help you feel more confident.

Read your riders

Different people make for different types of customers, and Uber is no exception. Some riders want to chat your ear off while others like to relax quietly in your backseat. When a rider gets into your vehicle, try a friendly greeting in order to gauge their mood. If a rider is cheerful, they’re probably up for some light conversation. If you receive little enthusiasm, your rider probably prefers silence. Hint: music can help too!

Contact your riders in busy areas

When you arrive at a pickup location and cannot easily find your rider, give them a call or send a text anonymously through the Uber Partner app to connect with him or her. Ask your rider to confirm their location and perhaps ask for other identifiers such as landmarks or clothing they are wearing.

Help is always here

Have questions, need advice, or just want to speak with someone in person? You can visit any of our local Greenlight Hubs and speak with Experts that are there to help you. Whether it’s issues with your app, questions about documents, or anything else, Experts are there to assist. If you’re out driving or can’t make it to a Greenlight Hub, support is always available through the Uber Partner app as well.

Enjoy yourself

Just relax. Everyone is trying to get from point A to point B and having friendly interactions makes the journey that much better.

So what are you waiting for? Get out on the road you’ll be a pro in no time.

Happy Ubering!
