Bookended between two large campuses, you’ll find people from all walks of life here- which makes for excellent people watching. While these areas are technically part of Boston and not their own cities, they have a very distinct (and music loving) personality. To get the most out of exploring, Uber on over to the area, stroll the streets, pop into boutiques, and check out some of our favorite spots below.

Places you have to visit:

Orchard Board Shop
You can not only watch some up and coming skateboarders on their public bowl, but you can also check out some art at their Extension Gallery that features local artists.

Chestnut Hill Reservoir
The perfect place to go for a run, hang out, watch the sunset, and simply get some fresh air.

Waterworks Museum
Kill two birds with one stone by visiting Chestnut Hill Reservoir and then checking out the Waterworks Museum. This quirky (and free) museum will tell you how Boston came to be what it is today, through water.

Where you should listen to music:

Brighton Music Hall
This is the stage many acts hit before moving on to the Paradise Rock Club. Catch some new favorites before they get big!

Paradise Rock Club
You’ll see mid-size to bigger bands of all different genres rolling through here. You can even get some food during the show, for those of you who camp out for shows.

Great Scott
This place is home to lots of underground indie rock and Friday night comedy shows. Ticket prices are always cheap so you can discover your new favorite band.

Bars we love:

Common Ground
Do you dream of a bar where you can sing along to NSYNC, Blink-182, and Spice Girls? Friday nights are ‘90s nights at Common Ground, so grab your flannels or butterfly clips and get ready to macarena.

Sunset Grill and Tap
If beer is your game, this place is your field. This is an Allston staple and parking is impossible, so grab an Uber!

Green Briar Pub
You can’t go wrong with a pool table and dartboard, but Mondays really put this place over the top when local artists come through and jam to traditional Irish music.

Affordable and delicious eats:

Roast Beast
Arguably one of the best roast beef sandwiches you’ll ever have. Try one of their signature sandwiches or create your own!

Garlic and Lemons
Kebab lovers rejoice- authentic, delicious affordable kebabs aren’t only in Europe!

Whole Heart Provisions
If you’re trying to eat more veggies without sacrificing flavor, this is your place. Vegans, vegetarians and carnivores alike all find the dishes here nothing short of delicious.

While Allston and Brighton are great, other Boston neighborhoods deserve some love! With Uber, it’s easy to explore a new neighborhood. Why not check out Cambridge?
