Q’s Tips & Wings was born in the backyard of LaShawn and Quincy Jones’s home in Markham, Illinois. Barbecuing exclusively for family and friends, the popularity of Quincy’s wings and rib tips quickly outgrew their home and they opened a restaurant.

“Quincy had only barbecued for family and friends until the Fourth of July,  2013, when his brother-in-law suggested that he should participate in South Holland’s BBQ competition… Quincy took 1st place in 2013 and 2014,” LaShawn said.

Food service had been a major part of LaShawn’s life too, starting out as a cook for Chicago Public Schools in 1997 and becoming a food service manager seven years later.

“I resigned in 2015 and my husband and I opened the doors to Q’s Tips & Wings BBQ on W 79th St, Chicago. With our many years of experience I knew my learnings and my husbands skills would go hand in hand together,” LaShawn said.

In 2014 they competed in the Windy City Classic BBQ competition, fed the Thornton High School Football team for their 2015 season, and each year since opening they have kindly donated their services to the Dawes Park District for their children’s Christmas event.

“We have always been the couple who love to satisfy taste buds and make people happy. When it comes to eating food it should be soulful and exciting,” LaShawn said.

In January of 2017 they signed up to UberEATS, enabling them to reach many new satisfied customers.

“From day one UberEATS had a great impact on our business, I can honestly say that. Many new customers have found us because of it and some have even come in to thank us for being on UberEATS,” LaShawn said.
