Uploading your documents
To drive using the Driver app, you are required to upload certain documents to get your account set up. Refer to the information below when uploading each document.

These documents are required across the US, but if you visit a local Greenlight Hub or review your city's local information, you can get potential additional requirements for driving on the Uber platform.

Make sure all required details are clearly visible
Ensure that your document contains all required details before uploading. The entire document should be clearly visible.
Upload your driver's license first
This will speed up the approval process when we need to cross-check your license with other documents.

Submit original documents only
We do not accept photocopied documents, so please make sure you only upload originals.
It may take up to 48 hours for your documents to be reviewed and verified.
TNC license no longer required
On May 29, 2017, Gov. Abbott signed a bill that creates a consistent set of rules across Texas for rideshare companies and drivers like you. This new law went into effect immediately, and it means that a City of Houston TNC license is no longer required to pick up riders within the City of Houston or at the airports. This also means that you’re able to drive in any Texas city where Uber is available—without having to pay extra fees or jump through hoops for a separate license—as long as your account is in good standing. Thanks to these changes, the same regulations will apply for all drivers in Texas instead of different rules from city to city.

- Where can I drive in Texas?
With the passage of the law mentioned above, you will now be able to accept trip requests anywhere Uber is available in Texas—without having to pay extra fees or jump through hoops for a separate license. We will regularly update this list as new cities are launched.
- Does anything change around picking up riders at the airports?
You no longer need a TNC license or a TNC vehicle sticker to pick up riders at the airports in Houston. However, the Houston Airport System (HAS) still requires an airport permit to pick up riders at IAH and HOU. If you do not have an airport permit, it is free and may be picked up at IAH.
- How does this impact drivers like me?
A consistent set of statewide rules helps grow awareness and demand among potential riders across the state—this means more riders in Houston and in other Texas cities.
- How can I get more requests and maximize my earnings?
The busiest part of town is inside the 610 loop. This area also tends to see higher fares during peak hours.
