Philadelphia
In Philadelphia, all drivers must pass a vehicle inspection before taking their first trip. This typically takes less than 30 minutes. You can find a map with licensed and approved third-party service centers at the bottom of this page.
In-State drivers can upload a picture of their vehicle inspection sticker. If your vehicle is not registered in Pennsylvania, your vehicle inspection must match the state of your vehicle registration. Annual Vehicle Inspections
1. Pennsylvania Law
Pennsylvania law requires Uber drivers to inspect their vehicle prior to account activation. Your vehicle must undergo an inspection every year. We accept inspections from any state that offers an official state inspection rather than a TNC inspection (this includes NJ, NY, and DE among others).
2. Acceptable Inspections
If your vehicle is registered in Pennsylvania, you must obtain a PennDOT inspection. If your vehicle is PennDOT registered, your inspection sticker will be placed on the bottom-right of your windshield by your mechanic.
If your vehicle is not registered in Pennsylvania, the state of your vehicle inspection must match the state of your vehicle’s registration.

Inspections normally cost around $20-$40, depending on the facility. Uber does not cover the cost of vehicle inspections.
- What do I need to bring to the vehicle inspection appointment?
Most inspection centers will have a copy of the form, but you may want to bring a copy of the vehicle inspection form to your appointment just in case.
