    • Background Check
    • Profile picture

Exchanging driver’s license for a Polish one

If your Driving License was issued outside of Poland then by law you are required to exchange your driver’s license for its Polish equivalent within 185 days of arriving in the country. Please be advised that the process can take up to several months depending on the country of origin so make sure you start it ahead of time.

To do this you should submit an application to:

  • the county government office in your place of residence,
  • the city office – if you live in a city with township rights,
  • the office of the district that is competent for your place of residence – if you live in Warsaw.

For more information, visit obywatel.gov.pl after selecting the country in which your driver’s license was issued.

Once you receive your new document, you can add it in place of your existing driver’s license in your driver’s application or via the button below. If you are still unsure how to do it then take a look at the instruction for uploading documents at the very end of this page.

Note that if you have a Ukrainian driver’s license, its validity in Poland is extended to December 31, 2023.

2. Vehicle Documents

The vehicle you are using may be added to Your Driver Account, Your Fleet Partner’s account, or both of them. In any of these cases, remember to make sure the car has a full set of documents added everywhere.

    • Liability Insurance
    • Vehicle registration (front and back)
    • Excerpt from taxi license (becoming mandatory on 22.05.23 with grace period - 2 months for Warsaw and 1 month for other cities)
    • Photo of the car taken with the license plate number, city sign, and the Taxi lamp visible
Vehicle Excerpt Application Documents

In case you attempt to obtain an Excerpt for a Vehicle from the Taxi License in Warsaw, visit Kruczkowskiego 2 Street and bring the documents listed in the graphic below. Keep in mind that the whole process takes up to 30 days. Keep in mind that the whole process may take up to a few weeks so make sure to start ahead of time so you have the document by the end of the grace period which is usually 1 month.

To properly take the photo of the vehicle make sure that its quality is good so that each of the required elements is fully visible and not cropped. The photo should feature the taxi lamp, registration number, and city sign on the door. To do so you can take the picture of the car from the front with the door open (showing the city sign).

Upload the documents in your driver’s application or via the button located above. However, if you are unsure how to do so then take a look at the instruction for uploading documents at the very bottom of this page.

3. Partner Documents

This set of documents is influencing where are you receiving requests for trips. The documents in this section are added by your Fleet Partner or by yourself if you are a self-employed Driver.

    • Taxi License (for the main city)
    • Taxi License (for every other city)
    • Business License
    • Bank statement
    • Personal ID of Member of the Board
    • Personal ID of every person who is an owner of 25% or more of the company

Follow the steps described below:

  1. Go to the Uber Driver application.
  2. Open the menu on the left side.
  3. Select the “Account” tab.
  4. Then “Documents”.
  5. Check that all of the documents mentioned before are added.
  6. Add all missing documents (make sure the photo of each is clear).

  9. Wait for approval of the documents, which can take up to 72h but usually happens within 24h.
  10. While going online, choose a car with a full set of documents.
