What is it about?
Starting January 1st, 2021, new regulations for drivers in Poland came into effect. These changes followed an amendment to the Road Transport Act on May 16, 2019.
- The mobile application can be used for the settlement of trips. A taximeter with proof of legalization is no longer required.
- Entrepreneurs carrying out the transport of passengers via, for example, a mobile application l have to hold a taxi license from January 1, 2021. This license can be obtained without taking the city topography examination.
- Passenger transport intermediators (Uber) will only be able to transfer orders to entrepreneurs with a taxi license. Such entrepreneurs will need to mark their vehicles appropriately (with a taxi lamp and the livery required by the city).
- Uber Poland sp. z o.o. obtained a license for an intermediary in the transport of passengers, which applies from October 1, 2020.

In accordance with the current regulations, Your Drivers can make trips in the city for which you have a taxi license. Each license reflects one town or city that is part of Your city and surroundings. Apply and get your taxi license from the city office.

Information for Your drivers
Before accepting a ride, the Uber app displays the name of the city where the ride starts and the destination, so that Your drivers can only accept rides that comply with your Taxi licenses.
Remember – not adding additional taxi licenses to your Partner’s account will have a negative effect on your drivers’ ability to accept rides, force them to return to the main city “empty” and, consequently, may reduce their (and your) revenue. It is worth noting that, depending on the city, trips starting in the suburbs can account for up to 20% of drivers’ revenues.
Be sure to upload all the taxi licenses you have from the city & surroundings to the system using the Uber Driver app or through your portal! Thanks to this, drivers will be able to receive orders in cities where you have a license.
What are the required documents?
To drive with Uber, you need to have a taxi license (yours if you run a business or one issued for your Partner). From January 1, 2021 the documents are necessary to be able to drive with Uber.
How to get all the required documents?
- If you want to drive as an independent Driver
- If you have your own car and you cooperate with a Partner
- If you don’t have a car and you cooperate with a Partner
Ensure you can drive without restrictions
We inform you that the new RTA has been published and beyond September 17th cars which don’t have the excerpt for a specific municipality as well as you having the taxi license won’t be able to receive trips. This deadline is a legal one and it won’t be moved. Please note it takes up to one month from the moment you applied for a municipal license before you receive it.
