Head of Marketplace, LATAM
About the Role
The Head of Marketplace Operations role is a unique opportunity to build and lead a critical vertical within the Uber Mobility business. Reporting to the Head of Central Ops, you will be responsible for ensuring a flawless experience and building tools and processes to help ensure a “balanced” marketplace for riders and drivers. You’ll drive key KPIs related to overall experience and reliability in the marketplace. Initiatives that you’ll contribute to or oversee include (but are not limited to) cross-country financial allocation, competitive strategy, marketplace health, pricing, fares, incentives, surge & matching, incentive allocation, and Strategy & Planning.
We're looking for someone with that mix of operational abilities to build things from the ground up and execute swiftly. You must be adept at conceptualizing, developing, and executing strategy and strategic initiatives. You will also need strong stakeholder management and creative thinking skills to work with our product and tech teams and develop the next generation of marketplace tools. A strong point of view and the ability to influence and lead others will be critical.
As a key member of our Latam Mobility Management team, you will act as a thought partner to Regional General Managers, other central operations heads, and the broader Mobility Leadership and cross-functional team. This is a critical leadership role with broad responsibilities and high visibility to senior management.
What You’ll Do
- Translate Global Mobility priorities into business targets for marketplace technology.
- Extremely strong stakeholder management and the ability to work closely with Product and Tech teams to optimize Uber marketplace parameters, develop tools for marketplace management, and standardize operating procedures
- Translate our long-term goals and financials into a cohesive and cross-functional operational strategy, objectives, and key results that Uber teams can execute against.
- Identify insights to help build a platform that makes riding effortless
- Manage a high-performing team (of both leaders and individuals); motivate them to continually achieve higher levels of business impact
- Influence local strategy and execution by building scaled applicable learnings across regions.
- Partner with cross-functional teams in the pursuit of sizable and realistic opportunities
- Constructive and effectively navigate a matrixed environment with product, eng, local operations, marketing, strategy, finance, and other senior leadership.
Basic Qualifications
- 10+ years of relevant experience running strategy, operations, consulting, analytics, tech, finance, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in pricing and pricing technology or marketplace management experience
- 5+ years of people leadership experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Unparalleled business judgment and critical thinking skills with the ability to use data to quickly establish the highest value priorities and develop a strategy to pursue them
- Quantitative data analysis, deep actionable insights, modeling, and advanced test plan design and analysis experience
- High-energy and motivational leadership are driven by personal influence and example from direct staff, peers, and senior leaders across all company functions.
- Experience working closely and communicating effectively with a diverse set of stakeholders in an ever-changing, rapid-growth environment with tight deadlines
- Strong experience managing teams
- Strong people management skills - you set the tone for your team, driving towards results while also being empathetic to their challenges; high EQ is a must-have
- Disciplined organizational skills in the service of outcomes - you’ll need to prioritize and manage numerous ongoing processes and projects simultaneously.
- Data-driven decision mentality and sound business judgment through strong analytical thinking
