We are looking for an Engineering Manager II to join our team in Amsterdam to help evolve and scale our map data platform that provides a digital representation of planet earth road network. You'll lead the engineering strategy, vision, and delivery of Uber's map data. You’ll directly lead a diverse team of engineers that impact each ride and delivery and help Uber move the world
What You Will Do
- Lead, manage and grow a team of platform first thinking software engineers
- Own the team vision and strategy
- Be responsible for team delivery across all stake-holding teams
- Mentor and guide the professional and technical development of engineers on your team, and continuously improve software engineering practices
- Own the craftsmanship, reliability, and scalability of your solutions
- Encourage innovation, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, outside-of-the-box thinking, teamwork, and self-organization
- Hire top performing engineering talent and maintaining our commitment to diversity and inclusion
- collaborate with and across teams to design, build, and ship great experiences for our customers
Basic Qualifications
- 4+ years of hands on experience as engineer from a relevant domain
- 4+ years of experience directly managing high-performing engineering teams
- Strong people leadership skills including growing and mentoring your team members
- Experience with full lifecycle of software development from requirements and design through to development, testing, deployment, and support
- Deep technical expertise and strong problem-solving and data analysis skills
- Experience evolving and communicating a strong vision/roadmap for your team.
